Name: Mako
Canon:Pokemon White Version
OU/AU/OC:OU
Canon Point:Post-game
History:http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Hilda
Personality: So! The main thing about Pokemon game MCs is that they're a blank slate intended to represent the player, and not often a character in their own right. So I am just going to go ahead and describe Mako's personality as completely as I can.
Mako treasures her friends and will absolutely never willingly break a promise she's made with them - when her best friend Bianca's father forbade her from going on a Pokemon Journey when she turned ten, Mako made a promise that she would never leave Nuvema Town unless Bianca was with her, and stuck to that promise for five years, when they finally received their own pokemon.
In the course of her journey around Unova, Mako met many people, and it's fair to say that the one person that left the strongest impression was the King of Team Plasma - a mysterious young man known only as N. In the course of their journies, N and Mako met each other many times - they clashed, argued, discussed, and ultimately became friends. The greatest lesson N taught Mako was to always follow her dreams.
Mako herself is a cheerful, confident young woman, never afraid to speak her mind. Her passion in life is the study of Pokemon behaviors in their natural settings - a discipline known as Ethology - and her dream is to become the foremost expert on it in all of Unova. One of the results of this passion is that she's extremely talented as a Pokemon trainer - her knowledge of the natural roles Pokemon take in the wild helps her understand and communicate with her Pokemon on a level few others can match. A good example of this is in her favorite pokemon - a Hydreigon she trained up from an egg named Etranger. Wild-caught Deino and Zweilous are well-known for being intractable, but by applying techniques derived from her observation of wild Deino in Victory Road Mako succeeded in rasing Etranger all the way from freshly-hatched Deino to full grown Hydreigon, with Etranger being a remarkably docile and friendly example of her breed. A side-effect of this is an emotional bond between the two that in many ways mimics the close ties of parent and child, and indeed Mako herself considers Etranger to be something akin to her own daughter.
Strengths: Mako possesses a high level of empathy and is very good at noticing unconcious behavorial cues. In addition, her time spent as a Pokemon trainer has left with a fairly good grasp of battlefield tactics and moderate wilderness survival skills.
Weaknesses: She has a tendency to drop into lecture mode at the slightest opportunity, holding forth at length on the behaviors of various pokemon with no regard as to whether her audience actually wants to listen. In addition, an ill-advised research expedition to the Giant Chasm in northeastern Unova has left her with a pathological fear of snow and blizzards after the Kyurem that dwells there nearly killed her.

Hello! My name's Mako, I just got here a few days ago, and I was kind of wondering something...is anyone - uh, anypony hiring? It turns out that dragons here eat a lot more than dragons back home, and it kind of seems like it'll be expensive keeping Etranger fed. As far as skills go, I'm good with animals, I'm fairly good at foraging for edible plants - assuming any of the species I recognize exist here, and if all else fails I could probably deliver packages?
So, if you know of any jobs that could use those skills, could you please tell me? Thank you for your time!
Third Person:
One of the things about being a Pokemon Trainer is that after a while, you get twitchy if you stay in the same place for too long. Which is why Mako is currently wandering around near the edge of the Everfree Forest.
She's not actually going inside it, of course - she's heard the warnings, and without her team with her she doesn't really think it's safe - so for now she's just inspecting the various plants that grow near the forest. So far she's cataloged three kinds of berries (two of the bushes show signs of frequent wear and tear consistent with both herbivorous mammals and birds finding them tasty, so she's picked a few berries and placed them in her bag for later identification), seven kinds of flowers (she hasn't quite adjusted to being a pony well enough to tell if they're tasty or not), and one species of tree (a type of maple she had previously thought endemic solely to Kanto, known mostly for hosting Beedrills).
Right now, she's inspecting a patch of strange, bright blue flowers. She carefully plucks one out of the ground using her teeth (hands would have been much more useful for this) and places it in her bag. Nodding to herself, she heads back to Ponyville.
"Erll, yjsy'd rmpihj gpt ypfsu."
She immediately stops short at the garbled mess that comes out of her mouth, trying to figure out what in the world just happened.
Poison Joke is nasty stuff.
